DESCRIPTION
Flower Study features a collection of flowers arranged like specimens in a vintage botanical study. Each of the 4 flowers I chose for this quilt has a meaning for me. Geranium: They were a favorite of my Grandma Evelyn's. Lady slipper: The state flower of Minnesota. I grew up in Minnesota, and it is still near (just across the border) and dear to my heart. Plus those little flowers are sooo cute! Coneflowers: My dad was a farmer and only ever grew farm crops, never flowers. Growing flowers was my Mother's job. However, when they moved to town, Dad had to fill the void of not being able to plant a crop, so he planted some beautiful coral colored coneflowers. Rose. As a child, I loved seeing the wild roses blooming in the road ditches as I rode my bike back and forth to a one-room schoolhouse. This pattern uses fabrics from the Field Notes line by Sandy Gervais for Riley Blake Designs. Finished size 64 x 76
