Celestial Surprise Quilt Pattern 45" x 60" or 58" x 73" with Optional Borders Layer Cake Friendly! Seventeen Layout Options! Celestial Surprise — the stars appear like magic! Celestial Surprise turns 10" squares into bold checkered stars using a simple sew, slice, and re-sew technique that’s as fun as it is surprising.
Fabric Requirements 24 Dark 10" squares 24 Light 10" squares If not using pre-cut 10" squares: Select six 1/3 yard cuts of different fabrics (Darks). Each 1/3 cut will yield four 10" squares (24 - 10" squares). A seventh 1/3 yard cut is recommend for design options or mistakes (28 squares). PLUS 2 yards of Light background yields 28 - 10" squares. Optional Borders: 1 1/3 yards for optional 5" border 2/3 yard for optional inner border Backing: 3 3/4 yards of 42" wide fabric Or 2 yards of 108" wide fabric for a no-seam back Binding: 2/3 yard
