DESCRIPTION
Oregon Beaver State Block 11 - The origin of the name Oregon is not certain one theory is the name comes from the French Canadian word “ouragan” meaning “storm” or “hurricane, or from the Spanish word “orejon” meaning “big-ear” a term that was used by many Indian tribes in the area, or from the Spanish word “orégano” for the wild sage which grows so vigorously in eastern Oregon. The Beaver State is the official state nickname. Other state symbols fill our gracefully scalloped basket: Oregon grape, Fir Tree branch, Hazelnuts, Pears, Oregon Swallowtail butterfly and Oregon Fawn Lily.
Finished block size 15in. - Our love for Baltimore Album Quilts made during the 1800's was the inspiration for our American Album Blocks. Each realistic album style block is filled with flowers, birds and a little American History. Each pattern includes full size numbered pattern with detailed embroidery instructions and Pearl's Easy Applique Techniques. Join us as we travel across America block by block and state by state.
