DESCRIPTION
My favorite time of year! In September, the leaves are starting to turn a bit, and the orchards are fragrant with ripe apples. It's time for a picnic at Cedar Lake. We'll pick some apples, then have a picnic under the pine trees. Later, if somebody will get that canoe off the top of the woody… we can row around the lake. I'm going to make apple crisp when we get home, how about you?
This little quilt is colored pencil tinted, hand embroidered, and pieced with easy flying geese borders. So very "Autumn"!
Quilt measures 19.5in x 16.5in.
Autumn Picnic Supply List
- Fat 1/4 of stitchery background fabric
- Fat 1/4 of muslin to back your stitchery
- 1/8 yd green fabric for inner border and flying geese piecing
- Flying geese are made from assorted lights and darks for a scrappy look (the more the better!) I used 9 light prints and 17 dark prints. You’ll need 2” strips of each.
- 1/4 yd quilt binding
- 3/4 yd quilt backing
- 3/4 yd batting
- 01 or 005 brown Pigma pen
- Light box for tracing your embroidery patterns
- Artist’s paper blending stumps
- Emery board/nail file
- Size 4 round watercolor brush
- Jacquard Textile #100 Colorless Extender
- Freezer paper
- Embroidery hoop (I like a 5" thin-sided, spring tension hoop)
- #7 embroidery needle
- Loctite Fun-Tak Mounting Putty (for removing most pencil tinting mistakes before fixative is added)
